Assessment of the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, throat and sinuses

For this activity, we learned how to properly assess the eyes, ears, nose, mouth and throat and came up with possible nursing diagnoses. Along with this, appropriate nursing interventions were introduced and applied to certain situations.

Symposium about the Different Fields of Nursing

Our batch — RUBY — invited nurses from different fields to speak in front of us about their life and experiences being a nurse on their particular field. Those words they gave us motivated us more to do well in studying to reach our goals and made us realize the field in nursing that we want to pursue when we become nurses already.

Creative presentations of the different eras in the History of Nursing

We were tasked to share our knowledge about a particular era of Nursing in a creative way such as role playing, film showing, game show, etc. This activity helped us understand the importance of learning about the history of our very own course. We have to know the foundation of everything so that we will not have a hard time understanding what we are learning. Also, imparting knowledge in a creative way makes it easier for us to learn.

Thorax and lungs assessment

During the assessment of the thorax and lungs, we were able to identify the difference between normal and adventitious sounds and what their implications are. Specifically, we learned how to correctly auscultate the lungs following a specific sequence. Additionally, we learned how to apply specific nursing interventions to specific clientele situations.

Return Demonstration of the Usage of Assistive Devices

Museum walk of the Concepts of Health and Illness

Bed Bathing and Bed Making

A common reaction when we first heard that we’re going to learn how to fix the bed of a patient: “Huh? Pati ba naman ini mayda steps?” Well, yes it has. Everything we do in nursing has their own rationale why those are necessary to be done. We learned that learning how to do bedmaking is important. One of the primary goals of a nurse is to provide comfort to the patient and learning about bedmaking will help you, as a nurse, accomplish this goal.

Return demonstration in Suctioning

In this experience we have learned one of the most essential procedures that have been taught to us. Suctioning, a technique that can be used to promote breathing, saving the life of the patient in the process. It is important for us to never forget the things we have learned in the College of Nursing so that one day, as nurses, this will help us in giving the appropriate and proper care to others who are need of our skills.
